The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 10-year-old boy, Abubakar Lawal, following a fight involving several minors in Karaku village, Rafi Local Government Area.
The incident occurred on August 11 at about 5:30 p.m. when Lawal and a 9-year-old boy, Hassan Adamu Umar, were returning from grazing sheep along the Karaku bush path.
They were reportedly confronted by four minors: Musa Aliyu, 10; Umaru Abdullahi, 6; Maryam Abdullahi, 10; and Fulaira Jika, 4.
A fight broke out, during which Musa Aliyu allegedly struck both Lawal and Umar with a stick, inflicting serious injuries.
The victims were taken to the General Hospital, Kagara, where Lawal was pronounced dead.
Umar is currently receiving treatment and is responding well.
Lawal’s body has been deposited in the hospital morgue for autopsy, while police investigations into the incident continue.
