Police in Ondo State have launched an investigation after three siblings, including an 11-year-old set of twins, were found dead on a farm near Owena Army Barracks.

The victims were identified as Joshua Jonah and his twin brother, Jacob Jonah, both 11, as well as their five-year-old sister, Blessing Jonah.

The children had reportedly accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm on Friday before leaving to return home, according to the police.

Police spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh said their father became alarmed when he returned home and discovered that the children were missing.

A search was subsequently launched, leading to the discovery of the siblings’ bodies on Saturday, September 5, near the bank of a small river within the farm.

Jimoh said the circumstances surrounding the deaths remained unclear as investigators worked to determine what happened to the children.

Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, has directed detectives to conduct a thorough investigation and establish the facts surrounding the incident.

The command said it was “diligently documenting all available facts and circumstances surrounding the unfortunate occurrence” as part of efforts to determine the cause of death.

Ohagwu expressed condolences to the bereaved family and assured them that the police would pursue the investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
