1,187 cadets commissioned as assistant superintendents of police

The Federal Government has commissioned 1,187 cadets of Regular Course 7 of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, into the Nigeria Police Force as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs).

The Passing Out Parade, held on Saturday at the academy, marked the end of a five-year intensive academic and professional training programme during which the cadets also earned Bachelor’s degrees in various disciplines.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, congratulated the new officers and urged them to uphold integrity, professionalism, and respect for human rights as they begin their policing careers.

He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to police reforms, personnel welfare, and improved operational capacity.

The ceremony drew notable dignitaries, including Shanta Emily Knowles of the Royal Bahamas Police Force; Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf; representatives of the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs; members of the National Assembly; senior government officials; heads of security agencies; serving and retired police officers; and community leaders.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the cadets’ resilience and discipline during their training and reminded them that effective policing depends on character and professionalism.

He charged them to remain committed to protecting lives and property and strengthening public trust in the police.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to producing well-trained, educated officers capable of confronting modern security challenges.
