Twelve military and paramilitary teams will compete in the 4th Governor Abdullahi Sule Inter-Security Agencies Unity Cup, kicking off on Aug. 18 in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Sports Development, Hamza Moyi, said the annual tournament is designed to strengthen bonds among security agencies and foster closer ties with the civilian population.
He noted that Governor Sule approved the 2025 edition, which will be chaired by National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu.
“The Unity Cup has become a platform for security agencies in the state to build camaraderie, showcase their skills and enhance productivity,” Moyi said, adding that the governor’s consistent support reflects his recognition of security personnel’s role in peacebuilding and protecting lives and property.
This year’s competition will feature attractive prizes, cash rewards, medals, and special awards for fair play, best player, highest goalscorer, best goalkeeper and best coach.
Participating teams include the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, Federal Fire Service, and Nigerian Correctional Service. Others are the Nigerian Immigration Service, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Vigilante Group of Nigeria, and Nasarawa State Youth Empowerment Agency.
