15 travellers have been confirmed dead, while 25 others were injured following a road crash along Enagi-Mokwa Road in Niger State.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Niger State, Aishatu Sa’adu, confirmed the accident on Sunday, August 9, 2026.

Sa’adu said the accident involved two buses coming from the same direction.

Sa’adu said 15 people were burnt to death when the buses engulfed in flame after the head-on collision on Saturday evening.

She added that 25 other travellers, who sustained injuries, were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Bida and General Hospital in Kutigi.

Sa’adu attributed the accident to wrongfully overtaking at a bend and over speeding.

The FRSC official added: “The accident was a result of over speeding and wrongfully overtaking.

“I advise the motorists to always maintain a good speed limit and avoid wrongful overtaking.”
