Two persons have been confirmed dead, while two others were injured in separate accidents on the Otedola Bridge and the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the accidents via a statement issued on Monday, December 8, 2025.
LASTMA said the road crash on the Otedola Bridge inward the Berger axis of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway left two persons dead, while two persons were severely injured in the accident that occurred near the UNILAG waterfront inward Lagos Island on the Third Mainland Bridge.
LASTMA disclosed that the accidents occurred in the early hours of Monday.
The agency said preliminary intelligence from the Otedola Bridge incident revealed that an unregistered vehicle with two occupants was travelling at an hazardous velocity when it collided with tremendous force into a moving heavily-laden trailer at approximately 2:30 a.m.

LASTMA disclosed that the accident on the Third Mainland Bridge, which occurred at about 5:00 a.m., involved an empty tanker and a pure-water distribution van.
LASTMA said the two injured persons received prompt first-aid stabilisation from the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) before being transported to a nearby medical facility for further treatment.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families and lamented the tragic loss of life brought “about by reckless speeding and brazen disregard for established road safety norms.”
He reiterated the agency’s insistence on adherence to government-prescribed speed limits, saying such compliance is indispensable for the preservation of human life and the avoidance of tragedies.
