Two persons, a man and a woman, have been confirmed dead in a two-storey building collapse in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos State.
The Lagos State Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that emergency responders recovered the bodies of the two middle-aged persons from the rubbles of the collapsed building.
Farinloye said the two-storey building with a pent house collapsed at about 9:30 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023.
He said the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) had issued evacuation notice several times and all the main occupants had parked out.

He added: “It was alleged that the property had been sold out about four months ago.
“Three of the occupants jumped to safety with the assistance of the residents.”
Farinloye noted that search and rescue operations were ongoing.
