Prosecutor Cpl. Akeem Akinloye told the court that on May 30, at about 6:58 a.m., in the Sawmill area of Ibadan, the defendants conspired to obtain N2,060,000 from the complainant, Rukayat Adeboye, under the pretext of supplying 40 bags of rice, but failed to deliver.

Akinloye said the money was transferred into a Moniepoint account belonging to Olayiwola, after which the defendants allegedly converted it to personal use. He noted that the offences contravened Sections 390(9), 419, and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty.

Defence counsel, Mr. Abdulfatai Ogundeji, prayed the court to grant them bail on liberal terms.

Chief Magistrate Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted each defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum, one of whom must be a blood relative.

The case was adjourned until November 27 for hearing.
