Twenty villagers abducted from Dunfawa community in Moriki District, Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, have been rescued unharmed, according to security sources.
The victims were taken on Saturday when armed attackers invaded the village, causing panic among residents. Security sources said the captives were freed at about 4 p.m. after joint security patrols intensified operations across the Moriki axis, putting pressure on the abductors.
The coordinated operation reportedly forced the kidnappers to abandon their victims.
All 20 were taken to a government hospital for medical examination, debriefed, and later reunited with their families.
Security personnel have since increased patrols in the area to prevent further incidents and support possible rescue efforts for other victims in nearby communities.
Residents of Dunfawa expressed relief over the development and appealed for sustained security presence to protect communities from future attacks.
