The management of the Lagos State University (LASU) has disclosed that only 14,893 students were offered admission out of over 70,000 applicants for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The LASU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, disclosed this while addressing the newly admitted students during their matriculation ceremony at the university’s main campus in the Ojo area of Lagos State on Monday, December 1, 2025.
Olatunji-Bello, while congratulating the new students, described them as lucky.
Olatunji-Bello also urged the students to be respectful, law-abiding, and serious with their studies.
The LASU VC said: “I heartily rejoice and congratulate all of you that are fortunate to be offered admission into this reputable university.
“I also congratulate your parents, guardians, family members and well-wishers for their effort towards ensuring that you fulfill your dreams of having a qualitative education.

“A total number of 14,893 were admitted out of over 70,000 applicants that subscribed to the university.
“You must count yourselves very lucky to be among the very few admitted. It is on this note that I will advise you to face your studies.”
Olatunji-Bello further stated that the university management would not hesitate to decisively deal with any student found to be in cultism or any other vice, saying “our university has zero tolerance for cultism.”
She added: “Please be assured that your security in and around the university is paramount to the management; hence, we have put in place adequate security measures.
“I plead with you to report any suspicious activities to the university authority for immediate response.”
