2027: 184 APC aspirants jostle for 40 Lagos Assembly seats

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Screening Committee for the Lagos State House of Assembly primaries has 184 aspirants for the party’s tickets across the 40 constituencies in the state.

The chairman of the screening committee, Porok Fomson, disclosed this after the completion of the exercise in Lagos on Monday, May 11, 2026.

Fomson described the screening exercise as successful, attributing the smooth conduct to the commitment and resilience of party members and aspirants.

Fomson said: “We want to thank God for the success of the exercise because beyond just having the people on ground, beyond just having the materials on ground and beyond the preparation, we met people who are enthusiastic, resilient, committed and ready to put in their best.

“That is why we celebrate the success of the programme. It is one of a kind that people are putting in their best to ensure that the programme turns out to be a success.

“Indeed, we are celebrating the success of the programme.”

The chairman stated that all the 184 aspirants, who purchased forms and appeared before the committee, were successfully screened in line with the constitution of the party and democratic principles.

He said: “We had a total of 184 aspirants who presented themselves for screening.

“By and large, we had 184 aspirants who came in and were screened successfully in compliance with the constitution of the party and the tenets of democracy.”

Fomson disclosed that only four aspirants withdrew from the race after purchasing nomination forms, while no withdrawal was recorded at the screening stage.

Fomson explained that the committee was only mandated to screen aspirants seeking tickets for the State House of Assembly, noting that screenings for governorship and National Assembly positions were conducted in Abuja by separate committees.

He added that the screening results would be released on Tuesday after the committee concludes documentation and harmonisation of records.

Fomson said Kosofe Constituency I recorded the highest number of aspirants with 10 aspirants, followed by Epe Constituency II with nine aspirants and Surulere Constituency II with eight aspirants.

Reeling out the number of contestants in each of the constituencies, Fomson said Agege I has (3); Agege II (5); Ajeromi- Ifelodun I (4), Ajeromi Ifelodun II (2); Alimosho I (3), Alimosho II (5); Ifako-Ijaiye I (7), Ifako-Ijaiye II (5), Ikeja I (5), and Ikeja II (4).

According to him, Mushin I has(5), Mushin II (2); Oshodi-Isolo I (3), Oshodi-Isolo II (1); Amuwo- Odofin I (4), Amuwo- Odofin II (4); Ojo I (1), Ojo II (5); Badagry I (4), Badagry II (5); Epe I (4), Epe II (9); Ibeju-Lekki I (5), Ibeju-Lekki II (2); Ikorodu I (5), Ikorodu II (3); Kosofe I (10), Kosofe II (7); Somolu I (6) and Somolu II (5).

He added Apapa I has (5), Apapa II (5); Eti-Osa I (2), Eti-Osa II (7); Lagos Island I (5), Lagos Island II (6); Lagos Mainland I (5), Lagos Mainland II (5); Surulere I (3), and Surulere II
