2027: Adeola confident of APC victory as Ogun party holds interfaith prayers

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has expressed confidence in the party’s prospects in the 2027 elections.

Adeola spoke on Wednesday during an interfaith prayer session organised by the Ogun State chapter of the APC in Abeokuta ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The senator, who represents Ogun West, said he was confident that the APC would retain power in the state and secure victory for its candidates, including President Bola Tinubu.

He attributed his confidence to what he described as divine intervention, saying the party’s path to victory had already been cleared.

“That same God that will give us victory on January 16 will also support me to become the seventh Executive Governor of Ogun State. God will give us victory and clear our path without a fight,” Adeola said.

He is seeking to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun as governor of the state.

Abiodun, who also attended the prayer session, said the gathering was an opportunity for the party to seek divine guidance ahead of the elections.

Recalling the challenges he faced during his own 2019 governorship bid, the governor said his experience had strengthened his faith.

“We have gathered here to seek the Almighty’s face and commit our journey of 2027 into His hands,” Abiodun said.

He expressed hope that the transition from his administration to the next APC government would be peaceful.

During the interfaith service, the Regional Evangelist of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Johnson Kalejaiye, prayed for peaceful elections and urged political actors and their supporters to avoid hate speech, campaigns of calumny and actions capable of triggering violence.

An Islamic cleric, Sheikh Amin Olohun, also prayed for Adeola and commended him for what he described as his contributions to governance.

The event was attended by APC leaders, members and supporters, including the party’s national leader and former Ogun State governor, Olusegun Osoba.

The gathering formed part of the APC’s preparations for the 2027 electoral cycle in the state.
