The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Prince Abdullahi Abbas, has vowed that his party will stop Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) from winning re-election in 2027.
In a viral video shared on Facebook, Abbas was seen addressing party supporters at a gathering of the APC social media team in Gwale Local Government Area, where he made the declaration.
“No matter the consequences, Abba will not return as governor in 2027.
“Whether Kano remains peaceful or not, his tenure must end,” Abbas said to loud cheers from the audience.
He accused the NNPP-led government of incompetence and corruption, alleging that Governor Yusuf’s administration lacked the capacity to manage the state effectively.
“They thought governance was easy, but what we’ve seen since they came into power is gross incompetence, negligence, and reckless looting.
“Everyone in that government seems desperate to steal,” he claimed.
Abbas also condemned the ongoing Kano Emirate crisis, describing it as “a disgrace” and blaming the current government for creating division within the traditional institution.
“This government has destroyed our emirate system. A historic city like Kano now has two emirs — that’s a shame,” he said.
Prince Abbas, known for his outspoken and confrontational style, has been one of the fiercest critics of Governor Abba Yusuf since the NNPP took over power in 2023.
