2027: Rivers APC vows to follow Wike’s lead

The All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State says it will follow any directive given by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, ahead of the 2027 elections.

APC Chairman in the area, Rejoice Otobo, made the pledge during Wike’s “thank you” visit to the community on Sunday. He praised the minister for projects and support brought to the area, assuring him that the people would remain loyal.

According to Otobo, “We are waiting for your instructions on the 2027 elections. Wherever you direct us to go, we will go, and whatever you ask us to do is what we will do.”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman in the LGA, Ikechukwu Obuzor, also pledged total loyalty, saying Wike had restored hope to the people and that Ahoada West would deliver results for him in 2027.

Ahoada West Council Chairman, Chita Eugene, described Wike as the “political field marshal of the South-South” and said the visit symbolized a celebration of effective leadership.

Federal lawmaker Victor Obuzor added that Wike’s past performance as governor justified continued support.

The Seyi Tinubu Support Group, led by Chidi Amadi, also pledged support for Wike and President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

In his remarks, Wike said he visited to appreciate residents for their support during the 2023 elections.

He criticized what he called “bad governance” in Rivers State and stated that Governor Siminalayi Fubara should not be returned for a second term.

He said restoring the state’s political influence would require correcting leadership mistakes in 2027.

“Rivers State is already regaining respect because of what we are doing in the FCT,” Wike said, adding that the state needs a trustworthy leader committed to progress.
