The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), MNyesom Wike, has dismissed a social media report claiming he endorsed the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Ishaku Abbo, describing the report as “fake”.
Wike made the rebuttal in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, on Friday, October 23, 2026.
The social media post had falsely quoted the minister as advising Adamawa residents to make thoughtful choices at the ballot, claiming he described Abbo as the best fit to lead the state.

The minister, however, said he has no ties with the Labour Party or any of its candidates in Adamawa State, stressing that he never endorsed Abbo or any other LP candidate.
He urged the people of Adamawa State to disregard the report, adding that whenever he decides to support a candidate, he would state his position publicly himself.
