2027: Zamfara APC affirms Lawal as governorship candidate

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has affirmed Governor Dauda Lawal as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 general election.

The affirmation was conducted under the supervision of officials from the APC national headquarters in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

The chairman of the electoral committee for the governorship consensus exercise, Baba Galadima-Uba, gave the affirmation after  a voice vote from thousands of APC delegates who gathered at the headquarters of Madawaki ward in Gusau Local Government Area.

Eid-el Kabir: LP shifts primary elections to May 30

Galadima-Uba said the affirmation was in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act and the APC guidelines.

“Consequently the APC Committee, after following the due process of affirmation, declare  Dauda Lawal as the consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Zamfara State,” he said.

The exercise was conducted in the presence of a team from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led by the  Resident Electoral Commissioner in Zamfara State, Dr Mahmud Isah.
