A Magistrate’s Court in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, has sentenced a 22-year-old trader, Moses Baba, to six months in prison for stealing slippers.
The Magistrate, Irene Pati, sentenced the convict, following his guilty plea to the charge preferred against him by the police on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
The prosecutor, Inspector Daniel Damulak, told the court that the case was reported on at the Angol-Jos police station by one Nendirnma Boka on January 19.
He told the court that the trader went to the woman’s house and stole her slippers worth N40,000.

Damulak added that the offence contravened the provisions of the Plateau Penal Code Law.
The magistrate, therefore, sentenced the trader to six-month imprisonment with a fine option of N20,000.
Pati also ordered Baba to pay N40,000 as compensation to the complainant.
