A 23-year-old student of the Nigerian Law School has died in a suspected suicide incident at the institution’s hostel in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The deceased, identified as Alayande Faith Ajoke, was reportedly found dead at the hostel in the early hours of Friday, August 7, 2026.
According to reports, the Chief Matron of the Law School, Mrs Igbokwe Juliana, alerted the Victoria Island Police Division to the incident at about 6:30 a.m.
The incident was reportedly brought to the matron’s attention by the deceased’s roommate, Ojo Abisoye Tinuola, who had recently completed her internship.
Police detectives subsequently visited the hostel, documented the scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
The deceased’s remains were later taken to the Mainland General Hospital Mortuary, Yaba, for preservation and autopsy.
The police said investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
