A Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Life Camp area of Abuja has sentenced a 24-year-old man, Adam Abdulsalam, to two weeks imprisonment for stealing a power bank in the nation’s capital.
Abdulsalam was convicted and sentenced to prison after he pleaded guilty to the charge on Friday, July 3, 2026.
The prosecution counsel, Bankole Babatunde, told the court that the convict committed the offence on June 29, 2026.
Babatunde said the complainant, Comfort Oyechi, reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station.
Babatunde disclosed that Abdulsalam worked in the same company with the complainant, adding that the convict borrowed the complainant’s portable power bank to charge his phone and didn’t returned it.

He said the convict made a confession admitting to the offence, noting that it was discovered that the he sold the power bank for N7,000.
Babatunde said the offence contravenes section 312 and 287 of the penal code.
Magistrate Hauwa Aboki, therefore, sentenced Abdulsalam following his guilty plea.
Aboki, however, gave the convict an option of N20,000 fine in lieu of the term in the correctional centre, adding that his plea saved the court the pain of prolonged persecution.
