A Mapo Grade ‘A’ Customary Court in Ibadan has remanded a 26-year-old man, Musa Jafar, over allegations of ₦450,000 fraud and certificate forgery.
Jafar, who pleaded not guilty to five counts bordering on conspiracy, obtaining by false pretence, fraud, and forgery, was granted bail by the court’s president, Mrs. S.M. Akintayo, in the sum of ₦400,000 with two sureties in like amount. One surety must be a blood relative and the other a community leader, both required to present proof of tax payment to the Oyo State Government. The case was adjourned to August 28.
Prosecutor Insp. Ayodeji Ayeni told the court that in June 2024, at the Basorun area of Ibadan, Jafar—alongside others still at large—allegedly obtained ₦450,000 from Ms. Naimat Oladepo under the pretext of offering professional ICT training. He also allegedly presented a forged certificate to convince the complainant of his expertise.
Ayeni said the offences contravene Sections 516, 419, 467, and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State 2000.
