The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man over the alleged murder of a 36-year-old motorcyclist, Sunday Ogbu, at Igbesa axis of Ado-Odo, Ota Local Government Area of the state.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this via a statement issued on Thursday, saying the incident occurred at about 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
Babaseyi said the suspect took a commercial motorcycle operated by Ogbu and attacked him in an attempt to seize the bike, resulting in a violent struggle.
Babaseyi stated: “A witness at the scene raised an alarm, prompting police to rush to the scene.
“The victim was rescued and taken to the hospital for urgent medical attention, but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

“The suspect was apprehended immediately, while the motorcycle and the knife used in the attack were recovered as exhibits.”
The police spokesperson added that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, for thorough investigation and prosecution.
He quoted the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, as condemning the act and assuring that justice would be served.
Ojajuni also urged the people of the state to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.
