30 passengers die, 12 injured in Kano-Zaria road accident

A fatal accident on Thursday evening claimed 30 passengers and while 12 others were injured on Kano-Zaria highway.

A fully loaded 18-seater Hummer bus collided with a Volkswagen saloon in Tashar Musa town in Makarfi LGA of Kaduna State.

Head of Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) in Zaria, Abdurrahman Yakasai, confirmed the accident, stating that their immediate findings suggested that the vehicles were on high speed with each driver trying to overtake another.

He told journalists that vehicles were burnt beyond recognition hence their number plates could not be ascertained.

The deceased corpses have been deposited at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and the wounded travellers are receiving treatment at the same facility.
