30-year-old APC aspirant draws attention after Kaduna Reps screening

A 30-year-old aspirant seeking to represent Sabon Gari Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mahmud Sadis Buba, has attracted widespread attention following his screening by the All Progressives Congress in Kaduna State.

Buba, popularly known as Abin Al-Ajabin Zazzau, became a talking point on social media after a video of his screening surfaced online on Sunday.

In the clip, the aspirant appeared before party officials dressed in traditional attire and answered questions about his age, educational background and political ambition.

His youthful appearance sparked reactions online, with many expressing surprise that he meets the constitutional age requirement for membership of the House of Representatives.

During the screening, Buba confirmed that he is 30 years old and the first child in a family of nine.

He explained that his decision to contest the seat was driven by calls from members of his constituency who wanted him to represent them.

“Help to pass the screening, having passed the requirements, because people called me to serve them, and I will serve. I am not doing this for myself,” he said when asked how the party could support his aspiration.

Buba also disclosed that he is contesting the APC ticket alongside the incumbent member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives.

Asked why he intended to challenge the serving lawmaker, the aspirant responded, “It is not from me. It is from the people.”

The politician currently serves as chairman of the ‘Tinubu–Uba Sani Agenda ’27’ support group and recently obtained the APC expression of interest and nomination forms.

While some social media users commended his calmness and confidence during the screening exercise, others criticised the tone of some of the questions posed to him, describing them as condescending.

Supporters of the aspirant have described him as a grassroots mobiliser and an example of growing youth participation in Nigerian politics.

Buba, who holds a NECO certificate, has also sparked wider conversations online about age, competence and inclusiveness in the country’s political space.
