4 killed in Ondo cult clash

No fewer than four persons have been confirmed dead in a cult clash in Owo, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident on Monday, January 6, 2025.

Odunlami said the killing occurred during a violent clash among some suspected cult members in the town.

The police spokesperson, however, said she could not ascertain if a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC) was among those killed.

She said: “We can’t confirm if an APC chieftain was affected, but four people have been confirmed dead.

“Normalcy has returned through the intervention of the police. Efforts are on to arrest perpetrators of the act.”

Meanwhile, an eyewitness told newsmen that an APC chieftain, Fisayo Oladipo, was among persons killed during the clash.

The eyewitness said five persons, including the APC chieftain, were killed during the clash at about 2 a.m. on Monday.

It was further gathered their corpses have been deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Owo.
