316 students of the University of Ilorin (Unilorin) have bagged first class in various degrees and diplomas.
The Unilorin Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN), disclosed this during the institution’s 40th convocation media briefing in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, on Monday, October 20, 2025.
Egbewole said: “In the first degree/diploma category, we have 316 first class, 4,120 second class (upper division), 5,939 second class (lower division), 1,078 third class, and 11 pass.
“The 40th convocation ceremonies also include 175MBBS graduands, 94 Nursing graduands, 40 optometry graduands, 36 veterinary medicine graduands and 64 physiotherapy graduands. We have a total of 13 diploma.”

The Unilorin VC revealed that 1,520 higher degrees would awarded at the 40th convocation ceremony.
“They include 182 postgraduate diplomas, 916 masters, 188 professional masters and 234 PhDs from various faculties,” he said.
The convocation for four-year programmes and diplomas would be held on Wednesday, October 22, while others are slated for Thursday, October 23.
