Chrisland University, Abeokuta, has produced 44 first-class graduates out of a total of 252 students who completed their studies in the 2024/2025 academic session.
The announcement was made during the institution’s 7th Convocation Ceremony held on Wednesday.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oyedunni Sola-Arulogun, revealed that 133 students graduated with Second Class Upper Division, 63 with Second Class Lower Division, and 12 with Third Class.
Prof. Sola-Arulogun expressed gratitude to the university’s governing council for its commitment to the growth and stability of the institution.
She also acknowledged the support of the Ogun State Government and praised the graduating students for their perseverance.
“To our esteemed graduands, remember that success is not given but earned through consistency and courage.
“I salute your dedication and commitment,” she said, urging them to be exemplary leaders and proud ambassadors of the university.
The Vice-Chancellor, however, identified some challenges confronting the university, including unstable power supply, limited internet connectivity, insufficient student accommodation, and infrastructural gaps.
In her address, the Chancellor, Dr. Winifred Awosika, attributed the steady growth of the institution to divine grace, noting its unwavering commitment to academic excellence, discipline, and moral integrity.
She lauded the governing council, board of trustees, past and present vice-chancellors, staff, and students for their collective contributions.
Awosika highlighted key milestones of the university, including the increase in student enrolment from 57 to over 1,700, outstanding performance in professional examinations, and the development of a thriving academic community.
Delivering the keynote lecture, Amofin Beulah Adeoye urged the graduates to embrace creativity, resilience, and self-discipline as they step into the next chapter of their lives.
“The world you’re entering rewards innovation, not imitation. Don’t wait for opportunities — create them.
Use the knowledge you’ve gained to solve real-world problems, build communities, and inspire others to dream bigger,” he said.
The event also featured the recognition of the best graduating student, Mr. Israel Popoola, from the Department of Criminology and Security Studies, who emerged as the 2025 Valedictorian with a CGPA of 4.95.
Popoola credited his success to hard work, consistency, divine grace, and the unwavering support of his lecturers, family, and friends.
