Five Iranian ships have passed through the Strait of Hormuz as the United States lifted its naval blockade after a peace Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tehran and Washington.
The Iranian local media reported on Tuesday that the vessels were identified as three oil tankers and two ships carrying essential goods.
The United States imposed a naval blockade on the Strait of Hormuz in April 2026, preventing ships travelling to and from Iranian ports from transiting the waterway.
This was in response to Iran’s tightening of its grip on the waterway following U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran, which started on February 28, 2026.
Memorandum with U.S. will end hostilities — Iran
The United States, Iran, and Pakistan announced on Monday the finalisation of the MoU on ending the war following weeks of negotiations.
The MoU would be officially signed in Switzerland on Friday.
After the announcement, U.S. President Donald Trump ordered the lifting of the anti-Iran naval blockade.
