According to the Commission, 56 Chief Superintendents of Police were recommended for promotion to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police, while 451 Superintendents were recommended for elevation to the rank of Chief Superintendents of Police.

The candidates underwent a written examination presided over by Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, PSC Commissioner representing the Judiciary, alongside DIG Taiwo Lekanu (rtd), Commissioner representing the Police and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Police Affairs.

The PSC said the exercise marked a new era where promotion examinations would become indispensable for officers aspiring to higher ranks, ensuring they are mentally equipped to handle the demands of 21st-century policing in line with global best practices.

Deputy Superintendents of Police are scheduled to take their turn on Friday, September 19, 2025.

Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to building a dynamic, efficient, and effective police force capable of safeguarding lives and property. He urged Nigerians to continue supporting the police to boost their morale and commitment to national service.
