6 die, many injured as terrorists fire bomb into Borno community

No fewer than six persons have been killed while many others sustained injuries after terrorists fired a mortar bomb into Damboa town in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.

It was gathered that the terrorists fired the bomb into Damboa after they were stopped from gaining access into the town at the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) location at about 8 p.m. on Friday, June 30.

“There was an attack by ISWAP last night in Damboa town; we lost six people including women and more than 20 people were rushed to the hospital. The situation is calm now,” a security source told Daily Trust.

Also speaking on the incident, a top member of the CJTF disclosed that two of his colleagues were injured in the attack.

He said: “Our members resisted them and two were seriously wounded and then they fire mortar bombs into town.

“We are sad this thing is happening in Damboa but we are not going to allow evil to prevail. As we speak, six people have been killed, 23 others are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.”

The insurgents recently attacked Damboa town and slaughtered seven farmers.
