71-year-old man kills 67-year-old wife over dispute at beer parlour

A 71-year-old man, Jeriel Peter, has been apprehended for allegedly killing his 67-year-old wife, Miltha Jeriel, in Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday, November 8, 2025.

Nguroje said the 71-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, November 6, after the incident which occurred on November 4, following a little misunderstanding that started at a beer parlour between the couple.

Nguroje stated: “During the altercation, the suspect reportedly attacked and stabbed the victim multiple times all over her body with a knife and axe.

“Upon receipt of the distress call, the Command deployed Police Operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Demsa Division to the scene.

“The victim was immediately rushed to the Hospital where she was confirmed dead while receiving treatment.”

Nguroje said the woman’s remains have been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.

He added that the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case and ensure discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.
