A 75-year-old pilgrim from Edo State, Mrs. Danzumi Adizatu, has passed away in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Adizatu, who hailed from Jattu in the Uzairue clan of Etsako West Local Government Area, died on Monday, 26th May 2025, at King Fahad General Hospital in Makkah.
The Chairman of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Musah Muhammad Uduimoh, confirmed the incident in a voice note sent to the deceased’s family on Tuesday, 27th May 2025.
According to Uduimoh, Mrs. Adizatu took ill shortly after performing the Tawaaf (a ritual of walking around the Kaaba) and was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, 25th May. She died the following day.

“In line with Islamic rites, she was buried in Makkah on the same day of her passing,” Uduimoh stated.
He added that the board has since contacted her family in Jattu Uzairue to inform them of the sad development.
