Scores of workers and commercial drivers, among others, were stranded on Thursday morning, following an accident involving a truck and a container laden trailer on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident via a post on its X account on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
LASTMA disclosed that eight persons died in the accident, adding that the incident resulted in the blockage of the entire road at Kara Bridge inward Mowe.

The agency wrote: “There’s a report of a multiple road crash where a truck and a container laden trailer were in flames, another truck spilling its contents (cartons of biscuits) on the road, a container laden truck ran onto the barrier with it’s carrier falling off the bridge into the river thereby blocking the entire road at Kara Bridge inward Mowe.

However, the incident resulted in the hike of transport fares as passengers going from Mowe to Berger were charged between N2,000 and N1,500 for a trip which cost N500 before the accident.
