Nine senators from different political parties defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
The senators are Ireti Kingibe (FCT) – Labour Party to ADC; Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo (Nasarawa South) – Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to ADC; Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto South) – PDP to ADC; Binos Yaroe (Adamawa South) – PDP to ADC; and Austin Akobundu (Abia Central) – PDP to ADC.
Others include Enyinnaya Abaribe (Abia South) – All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to ADC; Victor Umeh (Anambra Central) – LP to ADC; Tony Nwoye (Anambra North) – LP to ADC; and Lawal Usman (Kaduna Central) – PDP to ADC
The senators’ letter of defection addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio were read during plenary in Abuja on Thursday.
