The Presidency and National Assembly have been allocated N284.5 billion in the 2022 Budget.
The nation’s seat of power and agencies/parastatals under it will spend N150,590,609,934 in the next fiscal year while the National Assembly got N134 billion for both capital and current expenditure.
Both the Presidency and the National Assembly got an increment in the N16.39 trillion budget submitted to the parliament on Thursday by President Muhammadu Buhari.
For the Presidency, it was a massive budget increment. In the 2021 Budget, the Presidency had N73,148,893,252 as its budget; an increment of about N80 billion.
Also, the nation’s apex parliament had its budget raised by N6 billion from N128 billion in 2021.
The figures were contained in the details made available on Thursday by the Budget Office of the Federation.
According to the document, the Presidency’s personnel cost will gulp N91,632,254,250; overhead gets N16,252,859,677 while the capital expenditure was allocated N42,705,496,007.
President Buhari is to spend N24,835,805,231 while his deputy, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo was allocated N1,183,011,298 for 2022.
Of the President’s allocation, N21,974,763,310 is set aside for the Construction of Presidential Wing at the State House Medical Centre.
Buhari is expected to spend N2,309,066,788 on local and foreign travels while Osinbajo will spend N778,261,411 for the same purposes.
