Paris Saint-Germain forward, Lionel Messi, has tested positive for COVID-19 and has entered self-isolation.
This was announced by PSG in a statement on Sunday.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner became the fourth PSG players to test positive for the virus ahead of a French Cup match against Vannes on Monday.
Defender Juan Bernat, back-up goalkeeper Sergio Rico and midfielder Nathan Bitumazala have also tested positive for COVID-19.
“The (players) are currently in isolation and are subject to the appropriate health protocol,” PSG said in a short statement.
Messi, 34, joined PSG from Barcelona in the summer and has scored six goals in 16 appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
He has featured in 11 league games for PSG, netting only one goal.
The Argentinian star has however scored five goals in the Champions League.
