The Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin, the state capital, has ordered the remand of the Administrative Officer of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), Mokuolu Oluwakayode Samuel, for fraudulent conversion of funds to the tune of N8 million.
The 45-year-old Administrative Officer was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on two counts of fraudulent conversion of funds before Justice Mahmoud Abdulgafar on Monday, May 22.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Following his plea, the prosecuting counsel, Aliyu Adebayo, prayed the court to give a trial date to enable the prosecution to prove its case.
He also asked the court to remand Mokuolu at the correctional centre.
After listening to the arguments, Justice Abdulgafar ordered the remand of the defendant in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service and adjourned till May 30, 2023, for further hearing.
