The Supreme Court has dismissed the suit seeking the disqualification of President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima, over purported double nomination.
The nation’s apex court, on Friday, May 26, declared that the petitioner, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lacked the locus standi to bring the action.
The apex court stated that the PDP was not a member of the APC.
Both the Federal High Court and Court of Appeal had earlier dismissed the suit for lack of locus standi.
Also, a cost of N5 million was awarded against the PDP.
Dissatisfied with the rulings, the opposition party approached the apex court.
The appeal was filed through Mike Ozekhome, SAN.
The petitioner had alleged that Shettima had double nomination as the senatorial candidate for Borno Central Senatorial District and vice-presidential candidate under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
