The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has fined eight Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) N628,031,583.94 for non-compliance with capping of estimated bills for unmetered customers.
The NERC made this known in a statement on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
The commission listed the affected DisCos to include Abuja, Eko, Enugu, Ikeja, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, and Yola.

The NERC eight DisCos were sanctioned for failing to comply with monthly energy caps for unmetered customers between July and September 2024.
The commission stated: “These DisCos have been fined over N628 million and are required to issue credit adjustments to affected customers by May 15, 2025.
“This underscores NERC’s unwavering commitment to regulatory compliance and consumer protection within the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.”
