Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed two persons and abducted one other following an attack on Faruruwa village market in the Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State.
It was gathered that the incident occurred when traders were closing their stalls on Thursday evening.

The bandits were said to have targeted a prominent businessman whose wife had previously been kidnapped by gunmen and later released after a ransom was paid.
An eyewitness, who requested anonymity for security reasons, said: “They came straight to the businessman’s stall.

“They didn’t find him there, so they abducted his son instead. Then they started shooting at random. Two people were killed, and one other person was injured.”
The Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the incident on Friday, April 18, 2025.

Kiyawa said: “We have received a report of an attack at Faruruwa market.
“Police operatives are on ground, and we are investigating. More details will be communicated as we receive them.”
