In a significant breakthrough for peace efforts in Katsina State, several notorious bandit leaders in Dan Musa Local Government Area have voluntarily surrendered their weapons and released 16 kidnapped victims as part of an ongoing arms surrender and disengagement initiative.
The repentant kingpins—identified as Kamulu Buzaru, Manore, Nagwaggo, Lalbi, Alhaji Sani, Dogo Baidu, Dogo Nahalle, and Abdulkadir Black—laid down their arms on June 14, 2025. They pledged to renounce all forms of banditry in a bid to restore peace to the region.

As a gesture of goodwill, the group released 16 captives, including seven women and nine children. Authorities confirmed that the freed victims have been safely handed over to local government officials for care and rehabilitation.
The bandits also vowed to release all remaining hostages by June 15, 2025, marking a potential turning point in the fight against insecurity in the region.
