The Kano State Government has declared Thursday a public holiday to commemorate the beginning of the Islamic New Year, 1447 AH.
The announcement was made in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, and released to journalists in Kano.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf congratulated Muslims across the state on witnessing the new Islamic year, which begins with the month of Muharram.
He urged residents to reflect on their past deeds and use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, and prosperity in Kano and the nation at large.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of citizens through inclusive and people-focused governance.
