The Federal Government has announced ongoing efforts to settle outstanding payments owed to genuine contractors for completed projects executed by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) in Abuja.
According to the statement, the government will only pay for contracts that were properly awarded and executed in line with approved specifications and procedures.
It emphasized that contracts awarded without following due process or those not executed to standard will not be honoured.
“The Federal Government maintains detailed records of contracts executed by MDAs and ensures that all payments reflect value for money.
“Steps are being taken to pay contractors whose projects meet all necessary requirements,” said OAGF spokesperson, Bawa Mokwa.
Regarding the N35,000 wage award, the OAGF confirmed that the government commenced the payment of the five-month arrears in May 2025.
It noted that disbursements will continue monthly until the full backlog is cleared.
The next payment is scheduled for June 2025 and will be made after the disbursement of that month’s salary.
