A 73-year-old Israeli national, Avi Warshaviak, has died after reportedly falling ill at a hotel in the Garki area of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
The incident occurred on Saturday, June 28, at the Corinthia Villa Hotel, where Warshaviak was lodging with his wife. According to sources, he suddenly developed health complications at around 9:51 a.m. and was rushed to Asokoro General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The hotel’s Chief Security Officer, Okorie Emmanuel, reported the incident to the Garki Divisional Police Headquarters at approximately 11:23 a.m.
In response, police officers visited both the hotel and the hospital, documented the scene, and transferred the body to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Police sources confirmed that efforts are currently underway to contact the Israeli Embassy in Nigeria for necessary consular arrangements.
