The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has officially distanced itself from Kabir Ibrahim and his dissolved National Working Committee (NWC), following a decisive Court of Appeal judgment delivered in Abuja.
In a statement issued on Sunday, AFAN President, Dr. Farouk Rabiu-Mudi, warned government agencies, international development partners, and the general public to stop any engagement with Ibrahim or members of his former committee, stating they have no legal authority to represent the association.
Dr. Rabiu-Mudi cited the July 17 judgment of the Court of Appeal, which upheld a prior Federal High Court ruling from March 24, 2022. The court reaffirmed the Incorporated Trustees of AFAN as the only legitimate leadership of the association and dismissed Ibrahim’s appeal as lacking merit.
“The appellate court validated the Incorporated Trustees as the lawful leadership of AFAN and nullified all claims made by the faction led by Kabir Ibrahim,” Rabiu-Mudi said.
AFAN described the ruling as final and binding, declaring any activities or public representations by Ibrahim and his group as unauthorized, misleading, and potentially fraudulent.
“We reiterate that any official communication, partnership, or programme involving AFAN must go through the Incorporated Trustees,” the statement read.
The association further advised the public to disregard any invitations, proposals, or representations coming from the dissolved Ibrahim-led faction.
Dr. Rabiu-Mudi reaffirmed AFAN’s commitment to transparent leadership, the empowerment of farmers, and upholding institutional integrity.
He urged all stakeholders to verify communications and partnerships through official and authorized channels only.
