Former lawmaker representing Katsina Central Senatorial District, Senator Abubakar Sadiq Yar’adua, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing deep dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership and policies.
In a strongly worded resignation letter dated July 28 and addressed to his ward chairman, Yar’adua accused the APC-led government of implementing policies that have “undermined, destroyed, and desecrated” the lives, dignity, and livelihoods of Nigerians. He described the ruling administration as “bandits in government,” borrowing the phrase “urban bandits” from former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufa’i.
Yar’adua, who contested the 2023 Katsina State governorship election under the APC, criticized the party for serving only elite interests and aligning with “international monopoly capital.”
Announcing his defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Yar’adua said the party represents a genuine alternative capable of reshaping Nigeria’s political landscape. He also called on his supporters and political allies in Katsina State to join him in his new political journey with the ADC.
