A 17-year-old boy, Ahmadu Buba, has died from machete injuries sustained during a failed attempt to steal domestic animals in Sasawa village, Damaturu LGA of Yobe State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, when Buba and two others—identified as Wale Yabe and Buba Manu—allegedly stole animals from the village.
According to local sources, the owner, aided by local residents, tracked the suspects using their footprints.
A confrontation followed, during which Buba reportedly resisted fleeing and attempted to fight back.
He was struck with machetes, sustaining fatal injuries to his head and neck, while his accomplices escaped.
The victim’s father, Umaru Adamu from Agidini village in Tarmuwa LGA, later reported the incident to the police.
Officers took the injured teen to the General Hospital in Babbangida, where he was confirmed dead.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
