An Ilorin Area Court has refused to dissolve a 29-year marriage between Mr. Olufemi Morenikeji and his wife, Rebecca, instead urging the couple to explore amicable reconciliation.
Rebecca had approached the court seeking divorce, saying she no longer loved her husband and was “tired” of the marriage.
She also requested custody of their two children, aged 23 and 20, as well as ₦30,000 monthly maintenance.
“I am no longer interested in the marriage.
“I want my two children to be with me,” she told the court.
Olufemi, however, pleaded that the marriage be preserved, insisting he did not want a divorce.
Presiding Judge, Toyin Aluko, advised the husband to work towards a peaceful settlement with his wife and report back to the court.
The matter was adjourned until August 6 for hearing.
