Security operatives have arrested Sirajo Ahmad Dan Liman, Deputy Chief Imam of the Central Jumu’ah Mosque in Kangiye, Atakwanyo Ward, Gwadabawa LGA, Sokoto State, for allegedly collaborating with armed bandits.
Intelligence reports linked Sirajo to supplying motorcycles and other essential items to bandits operating along the Tangaza–Niger Republic border.
Investigators also allegedly discovered ₦47 million in his bank account, suspected to be proceeds from these dealings.
Sirajo reportedly serves as the ward chairman of a political party in Atakwanyo and secretary of the Gwadabawa forum of political party chairmen.
Known for delivering Ramadan sermons and deputising for his father, the Chief Imam, he frequently led Friday prayers in the community.
Authorities said the arrest was part of a broader operation to disrupt financial and logistical support networks for banditry in Sokoto and neighbouring states.
