Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade says the team is still waiting for the $100,000 reward and other commitments promised by the Federal Government after their triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Speaking in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Ajibade confirmed that none of the pledges had been fulfilled.
“We have not received our money, but hopefully it will be paid. All the promises, we have not received anything,” she said.
Ajibade led Nigeria to a record-extending WAFCON title in Morocco, after which President Bola Tinubu honoured the players and technical crew with national honours of Officer of the Order of Niger (OON).
The President had also announced a $100,000 reward and a three-bedroom flat for each player, praising their resilience, determination, and courage during a reception at the Presidential Villa.
