Former senator representing Kebbi North, Isa Galaudu, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alleging that the opposition party is now under the control of politicians loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Galaudu, who was PDP’s governorship candidate in Kebbi during the 2019 elections, announced his resignation in a letter dated August 20 and addressed to Muhammadu Aliyu Danbuga, the party’s ward chairman in Augie North.
The former chief of staff to the senate president said his decision took immediate effect, describing it as a necessary step given the “obliteration” of the PDP.
“It is obvious that the PDP is being controlled by politicians of the national ruling party,” Galaudu wrote.
Galaudu, who represented Kebbi North at the senate between 2011 and 2015, also served as a board member of Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto.
